'Play Unified' Swimming Gala

News 12 December 2018

Once again, The British School of Brussels (BSB) hosted a Play Unified Swimming Gala on Saturday 8 December. BSB has enjoyed a 25-year relationship with Special Olympics Belgium, sharing the philosophy and the values of solidarity, respect and integration.

From 2016, Special Olympics Belgium launched the Play Unified campaign with the aim to reach 20,000 people with intellectual disabilities to give them the opportunity to practice sports in teams with valid partners in regular clubs and federations all over Belgium.

The Swimming Gala included approximately 25 Special Olympics athletes from two Brussels swimming clubs, together with swimmers from BSB. This event was organised and coordinated by our Secondary School CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service) students.

BSB feels privileged to have been able to host this event with the Special Olympics Belgium and the relationship we have fostered over the years.
