With the Tokyo Games serving as a reminder of how sport can bring people together, it seems an apt time to announce two significant appointments at BSB.
Kris Gilchrist joins us from UWC Singapore – a former swimmer who has represented Great Britain in the Olympics, FINA world championships and European championships and a past world champion in the 200-metre breaststroke. Kris joins the PE and Aquatics team and will review pathways for our elite athletes.
Lewis Smith joins us from Scottish Swimming – a former Scottish and Great Britain International swimmer, competing at World, European and Commonwealth level, one of his many achievements include Commonwealth Games silver and World University Games Bronze. Lewis joins as a student teacher and swim coach.
Tristian Cook, Head of Faculty for Sport and Enrichment, is excited by the appointments.
“BSB is world renowned for sport but it is important that we do not rest on our laurels. These world class appointments build on the success of our sports strategy to date, and keep us evolving ever upwards. The fact that we can attract staff as experienced as Kris and Lewis is testament to the team and their work. We look forward to learning from their experiences and supporting them in their development in the world of education.”
Exciting times ahead for our BSB students. Bring on 2021-2022!
