On Sunday 9 September we welcomed hundreds of families on campus to enjoy a sunny sociable afternoon at BSB Family Day, an exciting all families event to welcome new and current families to school. Hosted jointly by BSB and Families of BSB (FoBSB), the school parents’ association, it was a great opportunity for families new and old to make connections, and to meet friends, fellow parents and FoBSB volunteers.
The information fair in the sports hall was attended by over 30 clubs, organisations and local businesses, and stallholders had a busy afternoon sharing information with our families and registering them for various activities and services.
Parent volunteers from FoBSB organised a sumptuous international buffet and café in a new outdoor setting by the hockey pitch. Thanks go to all the families who generously donated to the food table, as well as our event sponsors, Carrefour Market Tervuren and Obergine Traiteur Duisburg. Families also enjoyed tasty treats all afternoon from Stonemanor British Store, Simply British Fish & Chips and Marc’s Ijs.
There were sports demonstrations in swimming, gymnastics and rugby, and our House Mascots once again made an appearance, much to the delight of our younger students. The bouncy castles were as popular as ever and a huge thank you also goes to the Book Week stall student volunteers for providing free face painting. There were plenty of spiders and creepy faces to go with the Book Week theme this year of ‘Monsters and Mortals’.
Finally, thank you to all the families who came along, we hope you had an enjoyable afternoon getting to know the BSB community!
