BSB achieved great results across the three main competitive sports at the school which are Rugby, Swimming and Gymnastics.
The Senior Rugby boys played against ACS Cobham (three times ISST champions and unbeaten by any International School in the past three years). It was always going to be a challenge. However, a very competitive game resulted in BSB winning 22-7. “This is a fantastic testament to the boy’s commitment.” Head of Rugby, Marc said, “It was a gritty and hard fought win. Our results this year have been outstanding and our focus is now geared toward ISST.”
The BSB Swimming Junior Varsity and Varsity teams, travelled to London to compete against a number of ISST competitors. In total, eighteen personal bests were achieved; “of eight relays we won four and finished second in the other four.” said Tristian, Head of BSB Sports & Enrichment. “An overall second place finish, narrowly missing out on first, was a great result.”
The Gymnastics teams almost secured a clean sweep at the annual British School of the Netherlands invitational. With six schools attending from across Europe the results were nothing short of outstanding. Two of the biggest highlights being:
Michaela U13 (although only 9 years of age!) and Mathilde U15 winning the overall champions. Nearly every BSB gymnast secured at least one medal, with many taking multiple medals, resulting in BSB taking five out of six team titles. “A huge thanks to Anne Sophie, Head of BSB Gymnastics, and her team for the hours of deliberate and purposeful practice.” Tristian said.
Alongside this, BSB Basketball has shown tremendous progress with middle school girls securing a comfortable win against The International School of The Hague. New coach Sergio has made a very positive impact and the girls should be proud of their improvements.
