BSB extends Post-16 offering

The British School of Brussels (BSB) extends Post-16 offering: the BTEC International Extended Diploma Qualification, giving BSB students access to both Dutch Universities of Applied Science and University Colleges/Hogescholen in Belgium.

BSB has been given the green light to offer its students the BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma.   This is equivalent to the Dutch MBO Level 4 Diploma and gives admission to higher education in The Netherlands and Belgium.

BSB is the only international school in Belgium to offer such extensive pre-university choices as it adds these new qualification options to the current highly successful pathways of IB and A levels.

“This is really excellent news” said Sue Munday Co-Head of Post-16 with responsibility for A Level and BTEC students… “and will make a big difference to our already broad provision for university entrance”.

BSB has many years of experience successfully running BTEC Level 3 qualifications in Applied Science, Business, Hospitality and Sport but from September 2020, the school will be offering the new International BTEC qualifications to include:

BTEC International Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma (equivalent to one A Level) in Applied Science, Business, Hospitality and Sport, plus the Diploma (equivalent to two A Levels) in Business and the Extended Diploma (equivalent to three A Levels) in Business with Hospitality and Business with Sport.

“Pre-University routes for our students following BTEC qualifications are currently predominantly UK orientated and are well regarded by UK universities as it is a UK based qualification,” said John Knight, Vice Principal & Head of Secondary School, “but this new expanded qualification gives our students following BTEC courses the option of post 18 study at universities in the Netherlands and Belgium too, which reflects our international student body as well as addressing some inevitable questions about access to the UK universities for European students post BREXIT.”
